VelociData
Data entry via SMS
VelociData allows your staff or customers to enter data into a database using SMS messaging. Practically everyone these days has a mobile phone and has access to text messaging, and this means they can enter information into your database by sending a message.

You can view the resulting data via a web browser, mobile phone browser, or download it into your application.

Examples of use
1. Timesheets
2. Expenses
3. Delivery recording

Example 1: Timesheets
You have staff around the world and you want to track the amount of time they spend on various projects, but you don't want to invest in pda's, laptops, smart phones etc.
With VelociData all that is required is that your staff send text messages to one number, for key events during the day, and that's it. Job done. You can view the resulting data via Internet explorer, or can download the results in Excel or XML format via FTP or http for import into your databases for job costing, payroll etc.

Examples of the messages sent:

ts 9 17 .5 Worked on special project
VelociData would interpret this message as a timesheet for today's date, starting at 9 am, finishing at 5 pm, with half an hour lunch, with comments "Worked on Special Project". Because VelociData knows which mobile phone number the message was sent from, it can record the timesheet against that person's records.

s 9 Working from home
VelociData would interpret this message as a timesheet start for today's date, starting at 9 am, with comments "Working from home" and store the result in the database.

tst 3 XX001 Good progress made
VelociData would interpret this message as a timesheet task. This indicates the person has worked for 3 hours on project task XX001, with the additional comment of Good progress made.

Again VelociData would record this information in the database, so you can keep track of total hours being worked on your projects, so you can quickly spot where problems might occur.

Example 2: Expenses
Expenses is always one of those surpisingly difficult things to keep track of, and usually results in your key personnel every month spending a day or two with a mass of receipts compiling a spreadsheet of expenditure.

With VelociData your staff can simply send a message for each item, such as :
ex 22.70 petrol esso garage, Bracknell
ex 5.75 meal Pizza Express

VelociData interprets each message and splits the information into cost, cost type, and supplier and records it into the database.
You can view the resulting data via Internet explorer, or can download the results in Excel, XML or FTP format for import into your databases for job costing, payroll etc.

Example 3: Delivery recording
Your van drivers are on the road and you need to keep track of which deliveries they have made.
With VelociData at each drop each driver makes, he would send a text message such as:

d 12345
VelociData would interpret this as a delivery being made at the time the message was sent for delivery not 12345.

d 12346 10 minutes waiting time
VelociData would interpret this as a delivery being made at the time the message was sent, for delivery note number 12346, with additional optional comments of "10 minutes waiting time".

d 12347 t:10.15
VelociData would interpret this as a delivery being made at 10:15, for delivery note number 12347.

You can view the resulting data via Internet explorer, or can download the results in Excel, XML or FTP format for import into your databases for job costing, payroll etc.

Two way communication
VelociData can also be configured to send messages back to the sender, to inform them of any errors in the message received. In example 3 the driver might key an incorrect Delivery note number. The driver would receive a message informing him of this, allowing him to re send the correct information.

Design you own capture solution
If you have special requirements for you data capture then you can design the format of the SMS message to be sent and the format of the data table to receive the data.

Live Demonstration
